Yes, you heard it here first...T shirts can *totally* be worn in the winter months and we’re going to tell you how. One of the great things about having a capsule wardrobe for your kids is that most of the items can be used in every season with some layering techniques. Which means changing out and storing clothes can be avoided.
But how do you keep your wild ones *snug as a bug* when there’s snow in the forecast and all they want to do is wear their favorite graphic t? Here’s how:
Add layers underneath: Add color and texture with thermals and long-sleeved tees to make sure your little ones are extra warm. Having an extra layer is also helpful if you’re out and about and have an accidental mess or spill. You’re already one step ahead and prepared with another shirt.
Add layers on top: If it’s super cold add a hoodie or pullover for a first outdoor layer and then a winter coat. We recommend a wool or down jacket that is wind and water resistant to ensure that those underlayers are staying dry and toasty.
Pair with winter accessories: A scarf, hat, and gloves can go a long way, but often kids refuse to put them on or throw them off once they’re outside. Let your kids pick their favorite character or their favorite color for these accessories to avoid the wrestling match and resistance that these items often cause.
As they become more independent in choosing what they wear, we hope to make it a little easier by creating t shirts that they’ll love to wear year-round. We think adding layers are the secret to a successful outfit in any season. And remember hot chocolate can go a long way in fixing even the coldest of little hands and toes.
